Endúr Sjøsterk AS has been awarded a contract with SalMar Farming AS for the construction of a turn-key concrete feed barge for delivery in the autumn of 2019. The feed barge, to be constructed in concrete, are designed for use on locations exposed for extra harsh weather conditions and will be classified for a significant wave height (Hs) of 5.5 meters.

“Endúr Sjøsterk is proud to be awarded this contract from SalMar Farming AS. We are delivering this barge to a customer with ambitions to maintain their leading position in the global aquaculture industry, by focusing on cost-effective operations and high operational efficiency. This places great demands on us as a contractor of the feed barge”, says Managing Director Øyvind Risnes in Endúr Sjøsterk.

The feed barge to be delivered to SalMar Farming AS is 17 x 34 meters and has a load capacity of 600 tonnes of fish feed. The various equipment will be dimensioned for use on harsh sites exposed to very demanding weather conditions. This places great demands on the various components and solutions to be prepared for strong winds and rough sea.

“There is an increasing interest in barge concepts which ensures the fish farmer’s future flexibility and cost-effective use for many decades to come. Thus, it is interesting to see an increased focus on the life cycle cost for the barge, and to a lesser extent on the actual investment cost”, says Risnes.

Endúr Sjøsterk AS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of stock listed Endúr ASA, a Norwegian industrial group with clear ambitions for further growth within the three market areas aquaculture, maritime service and energy. Endúr Sjøsterk AS collaborates with its sister companies on exploiting the Group’s extensive experience from complex maritime productions, both from offshore installations and on the ship’s side. This competence is considered important in the company’s efforts to further develop future-oriented feed barges and service barges constructed in concrete.
